Let’s Talk About It!
Welcome one and all!
Alan Lechusza (writer/author) sharing thoughts and writings from the past week. Let’s discuss the complications of pop culture. What could possibly come next? Why did that person wear that style? Did I really hear that comment? Here we go.
The not so fun facts – General news and issues that caught our attention.
It was not too terrible of a week when it comes to the general news. Yes, there were court interruptions, border campaign meetings, and the weather was a bummer for most of the US. But, other than that, was it really that drab of a week? Don’t worry, the coming political tsunami is about to hit. At that point I’m sure that some of us will wish for these uneventful days.
SUPER TUESDAY! – Primaries and the 2024 elections.
Yes, it’s almost here, SUPER TUESDAY! The drama is going to hit the proverbial fan on Super Tuesday. 15 Republican contests and 16 Democratic contests are set to crush our minds and quicken our heartbeats. It’s at these moments when a serious frontrunner for both parties begins to rise. Nikki Haley continues to say that she’s going to remain in the presidential race as long as she’s “competitive.” Her recent win in the Washington D.C. primary Haley can start to feel some momentum going into this political game changer of a day on March 5, 2024. Let’s all stay tuned to see what follows in these next few days. It’s tempting to make a prediction. At this juncture that would prove to be naïve and foolish. Besides, it’s more fun to let the process playout and see what happened. Regardless, as I said before, these turbulent political times leading into the November 2024 elections are going to be nail-biting or a cinematic bust.
The Fashion Police – Did they really wear that?
There was a major tragedy that took place this week in the fashion world. The passing of an icon Iris Apfel shook the clothing lines around the fashion world. I came to know about Iris Apfel late in her career. Her over-the-top style and designs could, at times, be a bit much for my attention. It’s as if I would have to put on sunglasses just to see her images. Interior designer, decorator par excellence, and fashionista of the highest order, Iris Apfel was nothing short of an anomaly bull in a China shop. Seeing her confidence is awe inspiring. A short quote from The Guardian (3 March 2024) hits the point exactly, Money could not buy personal style, she said, prettiness withered, beauty could corrode the soul. All that really mattered was “attitude, attitude, attitude”

The Bro’s Corner – What does it mean to be a bro?
With all the attention focused elsewhere it’s not been too much of a busy week in the Bro’s Corner. Sorry, again there’s not much to contribute to this area (again). Let’s not give up on the Bro’s Corner. I’ll remain hopeful that there will be more to come in the following days/weeks. In the meantime, take this moment to review and see what kind of a Bro you are through this resource on what it means to be a bro. We can share this information. That should be fun!
The People’s Distort – All things legally dysfunctional.
Is it any wonder why Trump continues to dominate the legal news? This past month – February 2024 – held some major ramifications in the legal sector. An NPR report from 8 February 2024 quotes,
“Conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh asked [Jason] Murray [Colorado Plaintiff’s attorney]: "What about the idea that we should think about democracy? ... Because your position has the effect of disenfranchising voters to a significant degree."
To this Murray responded: "The reason we're here is [former] President Trump tried to disenfranchise 80 million Americans who voted against him."’
OUCH! That’s gotta hurt. Yet, this is where we find ourselves these days. The complicated court calendar for Trump required an advanced degree just to follow. It’s nice to know that the major news networks will provide the fun highlights. Who would have thought that court cases of this magnitude would come forth. Even further, who would have imagined that these cases would require television news binge watching? As I said, OUCH!
The Writer’s Notepad – What’s been taking up all those hours.
The next book, Are You (Still) Ready for W.O.R.! should appears to be back on the release schedule. The unexpected bump in the publishing world was (hopefully!) resolved. Updates will be posted on all my social media. Be sure to subscribe, follow, comment, and share.
There’s been slow work recently on the third book. Lots of other events have had to take center stage. The has, however, been no shortage of rejection letters from editors and literary agents. It’s not been too much fun. Submissions continue to be sent and I’ll just have to see what the results bring. Truth be told, it’s been hard, very hard.
New blogs have been posted on my Patheos blog site, The Sweatpant Sessions. Check those out! Comment, share, subscribe, and follow.
With that, be sure to get on-track with all my social media posts to see what’s been going on daily. There’s also a lot of writing samples to enjoy.
Still working on the research and writing about Hip Hop. I continue to follow the direction toward Christian Hip Hop. My blog sites (Patheos and Wix) have the recent samples of this project. I’m still learning how to manage the space and writing for these blog/articles. It’s easy to go in-depth and forget that these articles can be shorter than a master’s degree. After a serious committed month of writing about Christian Hip Hop, I still question, how far will this go? Where is this taking me? What’s the plan going forward? I’m just leaning on trust that this the direction for my research, writing, and personal adventure. Follow, subscribe, comment, and share all my social media posts to support. It's greatly appreciated!
